  • WP1 - MANAGE: Project governance, management and coordination

    Task 1.1: Coordinate the project consortium, provide continuous progress updates via the project intranet and regularly inform the project officer

    Task 1.2: Organise the project kick-off meeting, preparation of general project materials and elaboration of the kick-off meeting report

    Task 1.3: Create a data management plan including data use and access policies, personal data, and track related data issues along the project

    Task 1.4: Monitor ethical issues and legal aspects and intellectual property along the project and define the informed consent policies and documents

    Task 1.5: Provide periodic progress and financial reports to the EC, prepare the evaluation meeting, and consult the PO with continuous update reports

    Task 1.6: Finalise the project, prepare the final project report and financial report to the EC, create the final project report and documentation

  • WP2 - RESEARCH: Literature, studies, projects, stakeholders, solutions, tools and practices

    Task 2.1: Collect key stakeholders, create an involvement roadmap and a mitigation methodology and establish the Expert and Advisory Board

    Task 2.2: Accumulate studies, project reports, and relevant secondary data about migration and narratives within the EU and partner countries

    Task 2.3: Screen policies, policy recommendations, whitepapers, models and legal frameworks within the EU and partner countries

    Task 2.4: List existing threats and border security issues based on prior research and security practitioners, policymakers as well as civil society organisation reports

    Task 2.5: Collect practices, measures, tools, models and strategies for (counter-)acting on threats and expectations caused by false narratives

    Task 2.6: Compile a PERCEPTIONS Baseline Report core challenges and findings and including a structured overview of all gathered knowledge and materials

  • WP3 - INVESTIGATE: Methodological specification, quantitative online survey, qualitative interviews and focus groups

    Task 3.1: Design the PERCEPTIONS Multi-perspective Study including the survey methodologies, main research questions, as well as ethical issues

    Task 3.2: Run a European-wide online survey to gather insights on the needs of various first-line practitioner groups with a focus on measures and obstacles

    Task 3.3: Carry out qualitative interviews with migrants and practitioners to identify narratives, patterns of their distribution, and potential threats

    Task 3.4: Implement focus groups with local policymakers, and civil society organisations to identify needs to improve external security

    Task 3.5: Perform an overall analysis of the theoretical and empirical research data and provide an insightful PERCEPTIONS Multi-perspective Research Report

  • WP4 - ANALYSE: Social media, novel technologies, secondary scenario & data analysis, social network analysis

    Task 4.1: Create a structured collection relevant social media sources and channels, conventional media sources abroad, including technical APIs and news feed identifiers

    Task 4.2: Set up an intelligent multilingual analytical system for deep analysis of secondary social media data and actual social network channels, as well as media channels abroad

    Task 4.3: Run detailed analyses using secondary social media data and media-related channels abroad in the context of selected migration flow scenarios of the past

    Task 4.4: Initiate social network analyses to identify the flow of information and to identify distribution-leaders on the distribution of information, rumours and creating perceptions

    Task 4.5: Investigate the impact of further novel technologies besides social media on the perception of the EU in countries abroad and its impact on migration flows

    Task 4.6: Provision of an evidence-based PERCEPTIONS Social Media Insights Report including all findings during the analyses and best practices

  • WP5 - ELABORATE: Multidimensional approach model including counter strategies, measures, training and good practices

    Task 5.1: Model the PERCEPTIONS Multidimensional Approach Framework based on gathered insights, survey outcomes, analysed scenarios and social network analysis

    Task 5.2: Prepare future-oriented strategies, evidence-based tools and guidelines derived from the framework to support policy development in cooperation with civil society organisations

    Task 5.3: Create a library of identified threats and derive individual counter strategies and describe good practices to be distributed via a user-validated good practice library

    Task 5.4: List all identified, existing solutions, tools and methods in a structured database including also approaches to the re-use of social media for adjusting perceptions abroad

    Task 5.5: Elaborate creative awareness materials and services for first-line practitioners, civil society organisations, local community activist and migrant organisations

    Task 5.6: Annotate all collected experts, knowledge materials, training courses, and identified solutions based on the different strategies in correlation to the developed framework

    Task 5.7: Visualise the PERCEPTIONS Framework and provide a PERCEPTIONS Handbook describing all relevant user groups, perspectives, input layers, and output measures

  • WP6 - LEVERAGE: Web platform with information hub, knowledge library, directories, and best practice catalogue

    Task 6.1: Conceptualize the PERCEPTIONS Web Platform (www.perceptions.eu) based on a flexible, modern online architecture and design module wireframes and mock-ups

    Task 6.2: Setup the web framework, the database architecture and program all core frontend and backend features including a registration module and user management unit

    Task 6.3: Implement an open information hub and with awareness content, knowledge articles, resource and literature directories, a stakeholder map and an expert finder

    Task 6.4: Implement a restricted knowledge, solution and practice sharing for registered and verified security professionals, civil society organisations, and policymakers

    Task 6.5: Integrate project-generated contents, articles, knowledge materials, documents and best practices in the administration panel of the web platform and distribute it

    Task 6.6: Fill the databases and directories with data on existing third-party solutions and tools including field test reviews and comments by end users and all involved parties

  • WP7 - VALIDATE: Evaluation of materials, usability tests, early demonstration activities, and end-user feedback cycles

    Task 7.1: Perform multi-stakeholder joint evaluations with civil society organisations and public stakeholders on all publicly shared information, articles, guidelines and toolkits

    Task 7.2: Run validations with policymakers and border security professionals to test the (counter-) measures, methods, approaches as well as policy toolkits

    Task 7.3: Evaluate gathered third-party solutions, tools and practices-based tests in real environments and provide the user reviews and experiences on the Hub

    Task 7.4: Initiate tests for the PERCEPTIONS Web Platform with selected end users on usability and provided content, document results and perform iterative optimisation steps

    Task 7.5: Implement a series of stakeholder events in the partner countries with a focus on border security professionals and civil society organisations

  • WP8 - DISSEMINATE: Awareness raising, communication, dissemination, networking, and exploitation

    Task 8.1: Provide a project website (www.project.perceptions.eu), setup of communication channels and run information activities based on the EC guidelines

    Task 8.2: Distribute factsheets, newsletters, raise awareness on project outcomes, and provide policy briefs for policymakers in Europe and countries abroad

    Task 8.3: Create an exploitation plan for the long-term sustainability of the created project outcomes including sets of short and long termed measures

    Task 8.4: Create a dissemination & communication plan, elaborate scientific publications to the scientific community and attend conferences and networking events

    Task 8.5: Organise a European symposium for policymakers and third-sector practitioners for presenting the PERCEPTIONS outcomes and recommendations
